Rep. Mike Thompson announces America Bikes Act in Davis

Yolo County Supervisor Lucas Frerichs spoke on how the bill introduced by Thompson would open up opportunities to implement and improve bicycle infrastructure in the county’s rural communities.

“I represent Davis, the university campus, and the city of Winters, but in the rural parts of Yolo County and in between places between our cities in Yolo County it’s similar to many other counties throughout California, where bike lanes … are quite limited,” Frerichs explained. “The ones that do exist get a huge amount of usage … we also have limited funds in local government for biking infrastructure. So the provision of the America Bike Act will expand Yolo County’s access to federal funding to not only improve roadway safety, but bicyclists’ and pedestrians’.”
