Friends,

This past week, over 400 participants joined the Sacramento Metro Chamber’s 52nd Capitol-to-Capitol delegation in Washington DC, where we met with lawmakers to advocate for issues important to Yolo County and the Sacramento Region. There is nothing quite like gathering with hundreds of area leaders in our nation’s Capitol to work together on common causes for our region. Our 2024 Cap-to-Cap contingent included 13 focus areas: Air Quality; Civic Amenities; Community Resources; Economic Development; Flood Protection; Food & Agriculture; Health Care; Land Use & Natural Resources; Public Safety; Transportation; Water Resources; Wildfire & Forest Health; and Workforce & Education. I look forward to continuing this critical work with colleagues and area leaders throughout the year ahead.

In this week's newsletter, I share information regarding UC Davis' Picnic Day; the Yolo Community Foundation's annual Philanthropy Breakfast and Big Day of Giving (BigDOG); information on local organizations that are seeking Commission and Committee applicants; and more. I also highlight a few upcoming events.

Friends,

Thank you to all who have reached out about the Partnership Health Plan and Common Spirit/Dignity Health contract negotiation. I share your concerns regarding the negative impact this has on the 17,000 MediCal clients in Yolo County who are current patients of Common Spirit / Dignity Health.

The Yolo County Board of Supervisors sent the attached letter on March 22nd urging the parties to reach an agreement as soon as possible. In addition to this letter, I have been in nearly daily communication with both parties, and I continue to urge both parties to come to a resolution.

We've requested an update from Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency about the impact these stalled negotiations have on clients in Yolo County. Again, I share your deep concern surrounding this issue and will continue to do all I can to urge Partnership Health Plan and Common Spirit to expeditiously reach an agreement to provide MediCal services to Yolo County residents.

In this week's newsletter, I share information regarding the upcoming Board meeting, Yolo LAFCo, Child Abuse Prevention Month, Welcome Baby, and more. I also highlight a few upcoming events.

Friends,

This week, U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson presented an $850,000 check to the City of Davis and Yolo County for the new Walnut Park Library project. Rep. Thompson secured this funding in the final 2024 appropriations government funding bill. These funds will go towards construction of the Walnut Park Library, which will bring much needed programming and resources related to literacy, health, housing, engagement, connectivity and so much more to the entire Davis community. I am grateful and proud to be a part of this public library project.

In this week's newsletter, I share information regarding a special recognition of Yolo County's past, present and future female Supervisors at the March 23rd Board of Supervisors meeting. I also give an update on a renewed County ambulance contract with AMR; we recognize Cesar Chavez Day; I provide information on the open 2024 Golden Heart Awards nominations period; and a reminder that we are seeking community input on our 2024 Strategic Plan. I also highlight a few upcoming events, and more.

Friends,

Did you see the eclipse on Monday? We didn't get to see much of it here in Yolo County, but the photos from the full eclipse of the sun were incredible! Please note that a few events planned for this weekend have been canceled due to expected inclement weather. I have noted these in the Save the Date section, below, but they include the City of Davis Cesar Chavez event and the UC Davis Campus Powwow event.

In this week's newsletter, I share information regarding this week's Board of Supervisors meeting; a Yolo Food Bank event I attended regarding the state of food insecurity in Yolo County; a City of Davis $24M federal grant announcement; volunteer committee application opportunities and more. I also highlight a few upcoming events.
